Raincliffe School succeeds with highest ever GCSE Results

Governors and Staff at Raincliffe School are delighted to announce that 2010 has seen the highest ever GCSE results for the school. This is the third year in a row that Raincliffe School has increased its GCSE results and for the third year running students have surpassed the challenging targets they have been set. 78% of students (20% higher than last year’s 58%) have achieved 5 or more GCSEs at Grade C or above, making this the highest percentage the school has ever achieved. The school has significantly improved the number of students gaining a C grade or above in both English and Mathematics, as part of their 5+ grades.

Mr Mick Jolley, Headteacher said ‘The results at Raincliffe clearly indicate that the strategies we have implemented during the past three years, personalising the curriculum to the learners, are impacting upon results. All the team at Raincliffe have worked extremely hard to ensure that all students are given the best possible opportunity to achieve their potential. We will continue to strive towards increasing our GCSE results and ensuring that all students leave Raincliffe School with a well balanced range of skills, to enable them to progress in their chosen careers. I would also like to extend my congratulations to all those students across the Scarborough schools who have done so well in this year’s exams; I hope that everyone takes the opportunities that these results enable and continue to develop their learning at a post-16 college course, or training in employment in the future.’ Sam Gregory achieved 16 GCSEs, including 6A and 3A* grades, as well as an A* in his Art A Level. Emily Walker achieved 15 GCSEs, including 7A and 3A* grades. Over 45% of all students gained over 12 GCSE passes at grade C and above. As we move forward in partnership with Graham School as part of the Federation, we expect even greater opportunities and success for all learners.
